The float valve subs is a drilling tool joint with a float valve installed in its inner hole,for preventing blowouts and well surges. Its structure is divided into two types: plate type float valve subs and arrow type float valve subs.
The float valve subs consists of a drill bit subs and a float valve assembly. When in use, the float valve assembly is installed on the upper or lower part of the drill bit subs body. The valve core is closed on the conical hole of the valve seat under the action of the spring. During normal circulation, the mud pushes open the conical valve and passes through the outer annular space of the conical valve; The valve automatically closes during reverse circulation. There are two types of float valve assemblies: G-type and F-type.
