(1) Transportation cost is low. The carrier of oil and gas transportation by railway, highway and waterway is tanker and tanker. Part of the energy is consumed in the movement of the carrier, especially when the empty vehicle and the empty ship need to return and can not be transported continuously. The carrier of pipeline transportation is the pipeline itself, which directly promotes the day-and-night flow of oil and gas through oil pump and compressor. Only large ocean-going tankers have lower transportation costs than pipelines, but are subject to geographical constraints.

 (2) Less land, less investment and faster construction. Railways and highways occupy about 20,000 square meters of land per kilometer for a long time, while pipeline construction occupies about 10,000 square meters per kilometer temporarily, and more than 95% of the land will be restored to its original appearance after completion.

(3) Easy to operate, large amount of oil transportation, easy to achieve automation of management. Railway tankers usually carry about 2,000 tons of oil at a time. If an oil field produces 20 million tons of crude oil annually (Daqing Oilfield produces about 50 million tons of crude oil annually), 10,000 oil tankers loaded with crude oil will be dispatched from the oilfield each year, and at the same time, the same number of empty vehicles will be returned. Simply calculated, it is equivalent to 55 tanker trucks entering and leaving the oil field every day. This is a great pressure on Railway transportation, even overwhelming. However, as long as a 720 mm pipeline is built, 20 million tons of crude oil can be easily transported every year. At present, advanced oil and gas pipelines at home and abroad have realized unattended and automated management of stations, fields and reservoirs.

In addition, long-distance pipelines are generally buried underground, and fluid goods are sealed in the pipeline and isolated from the outside world. Therefore, on the one hand, pipeline transportation has little environmental pollution, on the other hand, it is safe and reliable, and is not easily disturbed and destroyed by the changes of ground traffic, climate and other natural conditions.
